Welcome – this website presents the findings from a seven year study of users of Sustained Mobile TENS (SM-TENS) therapy.

An Era of effective Self-Managed Health has arrived – where people are free to:

  • Self-Manage painful conditions without drugs to achieve improved quality of life.
  • Relieve the suffering of arthritis, musculoskeletal and other painful disorders.
  • Reduce the need for excessive use of medication, alternative therapies and hospitalization.
  • Achieve major personal monetary savings.

Seven year on-going Study of Sustained Mobile TENS therapy users

A survey was conducted in eight parts via mailout over the period from January 2003 to August 2009. Users of Sustained Mobile TENS (SM-TENS) therapy were requested to answer questions recording their responses to how they had self-managed their arthritis and musculoskeletal pain using the drug-free therapy. Ninety-three (93) percent had been suffering chronic pain more than 3 months prior to applying SM-TENS therapy.

The ‘The SM-TENS Users Study’ was conducted by surveys mailed to over 11,000 people who had purchased a low cost EziStim® mobile SM-TENS device from Bio Electronics Pty Ltd, by senior physiotherapist William James (Jim) Lamers3,062 responses were received to date, as part of the on-going study.

The study aims to show how sustained use of TENS for the treatment of pain can significantly improve quality of life for the user, reduce painkiller and medical services use, as well as save Governments millions of dollars.

SM-TENS is a Proven Technology for relieving chronic pain

SM-TENS is a mobile version of the proven technology known as Transcutaneous (across the skin) Electrical Nerve Stimulation – TENS.

No longer trapped within the confines of the pain clinics, labor wards and physiotherapy rooms, SM-TENS provides mobile sustained treatments on-demand without dangerous drugs. SM-TENS uses similar microelectronic technology to implants like the heart pacemaker and bionic ear.
